  • Condition: This beautiful basket has no chips or hairline breaks. The applied handle, at the end of each applied branch that extends on to the basket has a small chip on the end of the tip. Does not distract and found by touch. The hand painted enameling is present, but much of the hand painted gold has faded on the petals and leaves. The snapped pontil on the bottom of the base has a bruised or flake mark in the glass.

    Description

    This darling Victorian art glass basket is blown with spreading colours of pink opalescent.
    Hand painted enameling of apple blossom and branch with leaves on each side of the basket.
    The crimped rim has a ribbon of vaseline green glass along the edge.
    The applied handle has a "reeded" decor pattern and at the end of each handle where it attaches to the bowl has two extending branches. Vaseline glass under UV+ light, as pic shows.
    Snapped pontil on the base.
    Possibly from Harrach curing the 1890's or Loetz due to the "Aurora" ground colour found on the basket.
    7-1/2" tall.
    The rim is 4-7/8" diameter.
    The base is 3" diameter.
    The wooden base is not included.
